Becoming – Michelle Obama – Book Review

untitled designBook Title: Becoming Michelle Obama

Author: Michelle Obama

Genre: Memoir

My Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I lived with this book for the past week. More precisely lived with a woman from her childhood to her 54 years of life. This memoir is very deep and very detailed. The subtle message throughout the book is very strong yet not dominating. The honest life experience is something to look upon and wonder about all the good qualities of hers. I like every aspect of the book, every message from it. But it’s a long read not because of pages but because of the depth of the book. It made me know/ think a lot of things which I never gave a thought about before. I often wonder about the careful choice of words throughout the book, which could be related. Could relate me in a lot of ways in many aspects. I highly recommend this book simply because it will definitely intrigue our minds in a good way. The impact of the book is really very powerful. One of the must-read autobiography.

Favorite quote from the book :

“Time was a gift you gave to other people.”

“I wanted to live with the hat-tossing, independent-career-woman zest of Mary Tyler Moore, and at the same time, I gravitated toward the stabilizing, self-sacrificing, seemingly bland normalcy of being a wife and mother.”

“during hard times, maybe especially during hard times, it was still okay to laugh.”

“When they go low, we go high.”
